-About 4 Pears, If you have more guests add a little more to the sauce but this can stretch a ways
-2 dried figs, or 1/2 the amount of pears you decided to make
-4 cups port wine, it doesn’t have to be expensive. You can also use a sweet red wine but you’ll need to add a little more sugar and let it simmer longer to thicken more
-1/2 cup honey or coconut sugar or any other natural sugar you’d like
-1 tsp vanilla or 1 vanilla bean split
-1 cinnamon stick
-a couple whole all spice berries or a pinch of the powder
-a couple whole pepper corns, if you have white or pink or red even better, but don’t stress if you don’t have whole skip it
-a couple cloves

Simmer everything but the pears and the figs at a very low simmer, while that’s going you can prep the pears

You can make the pears whole just slice a little off the bottom so they stand upright, then just place the figs on the plate. However I wanted to make these a little differently from the norm soooo

I sliced my pears in half and scooped out the seeds, I sliced the figs in half and placed them in the pears.

Either way place the pears in the sauce and simmer the pears. Make sure you turn the pears if whole or spoon the sauce over the pears if halved. Cook until tender. Around 30 minutes.
